Bruce Boyd
Account Executive Alabama
Bruce started his career at Rose’s in Jackson, MS as an Assistant Manager Trainee in 1976. Bruce left Rose’s to being the Inside Sales Rep at a Building Supplies Company in Slidell, La, where he worked for 2 years before returning to Rose’s at another Jackson area location. Bruce worked as a Senior Assistant Manager before being promoted to Store Manager in Athens, GA. In 1986, Bruce returned home to Indianola, Ms., where he worked as an Assistant Manager for Walmart for 2 years. He then joined Supervalu, who had purchased Lewis Grocery Company, in 1989, where he spent 29 years in various Sales and Marketing positions with the Supervalu-Indianola division. He started out as a service rep in the general merchandise department where he stocked, ordered and merchandised all GM/HBA products in 13 stores. After 7 years, he was promoted to GM Sales Supervisor over 4 rack salesmen servicing approximately 60 stores. In 1999, Bruce was promoted to Shelf Management Specialist where he was supervising store sets for all departments in the SV Indianola division for 65 stores across North Mississippi, North Louisiana and Arkansas.
Bruce claims that he briefly left Supervalu in 2005 to pursue a lifelong dream of working for the Atlanta Braves. He says he was selected as the first Stadium Operations Manager at the new Mississippi Braves Minor League affiliate in Pearl, MS. We see how he could have excelled in that job.
In November of 2005, Supervalu came calling with an offer Bruce just couldn’t turn down to be the Center Store Marketing Consultant. He accepted and was responsible for sales and merchandising decisions for all Grocery, Dairy, Frozen and GM/HBC items for all store sets for the entire Indianola DC trade area. (Ark-LA, MS, AL).
In, 2018, after several SV reorganizations, Bruce joined Sullivan’s, Inc, an 11 store chain in Central Mississippi, to serve as Merchandising Manager. After greatly improving these stores' sets and assortments, he joined Koch & Associates in March of 2019 as an Account Executive over our Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas business. His knowledge of all UNFI customers and all UNFI Indianola division's programs may well make him the greatest Account Executive we ever hired. Bruce has single handedly created major new businesses as he established our Anniston principals in the Indianola market. The total number of new items he has worked into SV Indianola stores exceeds 2,000 in his first 8 months. He truly works every item we represent on every retail call. The relationship he has with the major retailers in this market insures our current and future success. Bruce claims he can sell ice cubes to Eskimos and based on the phenomenal number of display cases he is generating, we think he could.
Bruce is a diehard Mississippi State fan and he regularly attends their football, basketball and baseball games. Bruce also enjoys Atlanta Braves baseball. Although Bruce really enjoys spectator sports, he plans to get back to playing golf in the very near future.
Bruce, and his lovely wife, Debra, reside are moving to Birmingham, Alabama to spoil their grandkids rotten- and we are thrilled to have Bruce back on the Koch team.
